Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, and I finally decided to just go for it and try to recreate it myself. You know, it’s one of those classic, timeless pieces that just never goes out of style. I mean, who wouldn’t want this beauty in their closet?
First things first, I started researching. I watched a few videos online, trying to figure out what makes this bag so special. I found out that it’s made of this Saffiano leather, which is like, real calfskin leather that’s been treated to have this cool cross-hatch pattern. Makes it tough and water-resistant, perfect for everyday use. No wonder it’s a favorite.
Then came the fun part – picking out the materials. I went to a local leather shop, and let me tell you, it was overwhelming! So many choices. But I was on a mission. I was looking for that perfect Saffiano leather. I finally found a piece that was just right. It had that signature texture, and the color was spot on. I also grabbed some sturdy lining fabric, some heavy-duty thread, and all the other little bits and bobs I’d need.
Next up, the pattern. Now, I’m no professional, but I managed to find a pattern online. It’s basic, but it’s a good foundation. I printed it out, made a few adjustments to match the Galleria’s dimensions. I carefully cut out each piece from my beautiful Saffiano leather, making sure to double-check every measurement. This part took forever, but it was worth it to get it right.

The handles were next. I decided to make them myself, too, because why not? I cut long strips of leather, folded them, and stitched them together. It was tough, but the result looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. Attaching them to the bag was another story. I had to reinforce the stitches multiple times to make sure they were secure. Don’t want those handles falling off!
Finally, the hardware. I found some nice, sturdy metal pieces that matched the original bag’s hardware pretty closely. I carefully attached the zippers, the buckles, and the little feet at the bottom. This part was actually kind of fun, seeing the whole bag come together.
The Result
And there you have it! My very own handmade Galleria bag. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches, and it’s definitely not as polished as the real thing. But you know what? I’m proud of it. I made it with my own two hands, and it’s a pretty good replica of the iconic Prada bag. Plus, I saved a ton of money! Now I can strut around with my “Galleria,” knowing I put in the work to make it happen.
