Well, let me tell you about this here OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope watch. My grandson, he’s always going on about these fancy watches, and this one, it’s a real doozy. He says it’s a big deal, this OMEGA thing. It’s a copy, you know, not the real one, but looks just the same.
This watch, it’s got this… this “tacky-meter” bezel, whatever that is. Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to measure tackiness, and lord knows there’s enough of that to go around these days. But my grandson, he says it’s for measurin’ speed. Like how fast you’re goin’ in a car, or somethin’. I don’t know, I just nod my head and pretend I understand.
He showed me this one, the OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope. It’s big, this watch. Like, 43 millimeters big. Don’t ask me what a millimeter is, but it sounds important. It’s also 48 from one end to the other, he says. And 12.8 thick! Sounds like a brick, but he says it fits the wrist. Folks are all different sizes, I reckon, like those cows farmer has.

Now, this Speedmaster watch, it’s a copy, mind you. Not one of them real expensive ones. But it looks just like it, he says. All shiny and fancy. And this copy, it’s got all them little dials and numbers. Hard to see for these old eyes, but he says they all mean somethin’. He says you gotta look at the words and lines on the watch face. They gotta be clear, not blurry. Just like when you are lookin’ at them cows, you gotta see ’em clear to know which one’s which.
He was goin’ on about how the real ones, they got some fancy writin’ on the back. Some kind of special markin’, like brandin’ a cow, I suppose. Says it’s to show it’s the real deal. This copy, it probably don’t have that, but who’s gonna be lookin’ at the back of your watch anyway?
He says this OMEGA Speedmaster is like the one they wore on the moon. The moon! Can you believe it? I remember when they first landed on the moon. We all gathered around the television, watchin’ those blurry pictures. Now they got watches that went to the moon. What a world, what a world.
This Chronoscope watch, it’s got a black face, he says. And it’s got this special kind of glass, called “Hes-a-lite” or somethin’. Sounds like a made-up word to me. But he says it’s tough, this glass. Like it won’t break easy. That’s good, I reckon. Don’t want no broken glass on your wrist.
And you gotta wind it up, this watch. It ain’t like them newfangled ones that run on batteries. You gotta wind it up by hand. Like churnin’ butter, I suppose. Keeps it goin’, he says. Keeps it tellin’ the right time. I guess they did not have batteries on the moon.
He says these Speedmaster watches are special. Some of them are made special, he says. Not many of ’em made. Like them prize-winnin’ pigs at the county fair. Only a few of ’em, and everyone wants one. Makes ’em worth more, he says. This copy ain’t worth much, but it looks the part.
They showed this copy OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope in some fancy place called “Milan.” Sounds like a type of melon to me, haha! But it’s a place, he says. A fancy place where they show off fancy things. And everyone wants this watch, he says. They’re all linin’ up to get one. Even the copy one is hard to get, or so he says.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope watch. It’s a big, fancy watch. It’s got dials and numbers. It’s got that “tacky-meter” thing. It is a copy, but a good one. And it’s somethin’ special, or so my grandson says. He’s a good boy, even if he does go on about these fancy watches all the time.
I still think my old clock on the wall does the job just fine. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes her simple things. But if you want a copy OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope, you better get in line. It is a popular one, this watch, everyone wants one, that’s for sure.
