Okay, so I’ve been messing around with watches lately, and I just had to share this one. I got my hands on a high imitation of the Rolex GMT-Master II, the left-handed version. You know, the one they call the “destro.” It’s a pretty cool piece, and I was curious to see how close it could get to the real deal.
First off, finding this thing was a bit of a mission. I went through a bunch of sellers, and let me tell you, the quality varies wildly. Some were just awful, but I finally landed on one that looked decent in the pictures.
When the package arrived, I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. The watch was nestled in a pretty convincing box, all things considered. I picked it up, and it had a good weight. It felt solid, not like some cheap toy.
I started by checking out the basics. The case is 40mm, just like the original. It is made of stainless steel and feels quite nice. The crown is on the left side, which is the whole point of this model. It screwed down smoothly, which was a good sign. The bezel, now that’s where things get interesting. It’s a bi-directional ceramic bezel, which is like a scratch-resistant material. Turning the bezel felt pretty good – it had those satisfying clicks, you know? And it rotated in both directions, just like it’s supposed to.

I took the watch off and gave it a little shake, and sure enough, the second hand started moving. I set the time and the date, which was pretty straightforward. The date flips over at midnight, which is what you want to see.
I wore the watch around for a few days, just to see how it felt on the wrist. It’s comfortable, I’ll give it that. The bracelet is also stainless steel, and it has that nice brushed finish. The clasp is a folding one, with a safety catch to make sure it doesn’t accidentally pop open. One thing I noticed is the date magnifier. It’s that little bubble over the date window that makes the date look bigger. On this imitation, the magnification is pretty good, but not quite as strong as the real one.
Wrapping It Up
So, after wearing this thing for a week or so, I’m honestly pretty impressed. It looks good, it feels good, and it keeps time pretty well. I even showed it to a couple of watch people I know, and they were surprised by the quality. Sure, it’s not a real Rolex, and a true expert would spot the differences in a heartbeat. It’s not going to fool a seasoned collector. But for the price, it’s a surprisingly well-made watch. It’s a fun piece to wear, especially if you’re into the whole left-handed watch thing.
