I spent a day messing around with remaking that Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 5738, the one you see on their official site. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a project, but kinda fun too.
First off, I started by gathering all the stuff I needed. I dug around to find some good pictures of the watch. I needed those to see all the little details, you know? I looked at the official website for some high-quality images, and then I searched around on other watch sites to get some different angles.
Next, I started to play with the design. I started with the case, I tried to get that elliptical shape just right. It’s not a perfect circle, not an oval, but something in between, which is harder than it sounds. I played around with a few different tools until I got something that looked pretty close.
Then, I worked on the watch face. It’s a simple design, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. The hands are pretty basic, just straight lines, really. The hour markers are just little rectangles, but getting them spaced out perfectly and lined up was key. It took some time, but I think it turned out pretty decent.
After that, I focused on the colors. The real watch has this beautiful blue face, and I wanted to get that just right. The case is rose gold, and that was another thing to play around with. I tweaked the colors and the shading until it felt right.
Finally, I put it all together. This was the moment of truth. I looked at my version next to the real one, and I gotta say, I was pretty happy with it. It’s not perfect, of course, but it’s a good effort, and I learned a lot doing it. I think I am going to print it out and put it on my wall.
It was a fun little project, and it’s cool to see how much work goes into even a simple-looking watch like this. It gave me a new appreciation for watch design, that’s for sure!
