You know, I heard folks talking ’bout this here OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope thing. They say it’s some kinda fancy watch. I don’t know much about these fancy things, but I hear it’s all the rage on the online shop.
These young’uns and their online stores, always buying stuff they see on that glowing box. They say you can find anything online, even this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope thingy. Now, I seen some watches in my time, but this one, they say it’s special. It is a real deal, you know. Not one of those fake ones that stop working after a week.
They say this watch, it’s got all sorts of doohickeys on it. I don’t know. I just see a bunch of little lines and numbers. Not like my old watch. That one, you just wind it up, and it goes. They said you gotta wind this one too. It’s a manual-wind thing. This OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope is supposed to be like the ones they wore on the moon. Can you believe that? The moon!
And the dial, they call it a black dial. Black as coal, I reckon. And some kind of special glass they call a crystal. Not like any crystal I ever seen. It’s a Hesalite. They say it’s tough. Good thing, too. Watches these days, they break if you look at ’em wrong. But not this one, not this OMEGA Speedmaster thing. They say it is going to last a long time.
Now, I seen some of them city folk with their fancy watches. They show ’em off like they’re made of gold. This OMEGA thing, it ain’t cheap, I hear. But they say it’s worth it. They say it’s an investment. You know, like buying land. It’s supposed to be worth more later. I don’t know about that, but that’s what they say. It’s a special edition, limited, whatever that means. That’s why it is more expensive than other watches.
And there’s different kinds, too. Not just this Chronoscope one. They got a whole bunch of ’em. They call it a collection. The OMEGA Speedmaster collection. They say it got lots of watches. Like a whole family of watches, I guess. They say there are a lot of styles. Some are for men, some are for women. You can choose what you like.
- There is this one they call the Moonwatch. They say this is the famous one. It got a skeleton dial and a ceramic case. Skeleton means you can see through it.
- They say that’s the one most folks think of when they hear Speedmaster. Like the granddaddy of ’em all.
- I reckon if you’re gonna get one of these OMEGA Speedmaster things, you might as well get the one everyone knows about.
I asked my grandson about it. He’s always on that computer. He says you can buy ’em online. But you gotta be careful, he said. Lots of fakes out there. He said to buy it from a place called an OMEGA Boutique. Or some other place they trust. Authorized, he called it. Authorized retailer. This OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope, it ain’t something you wanna buy from just anyone.
And they got a warranty, too. That’s important. Means if it breaks, they’ll fix it. Two years, they say. That’s a good long time. My old watch, it didn’t have no warranty. You just hoped it kept ticking. They said they will deliver it to you very fast. You don’t need to wait for a long time to get this watch.
I seen one of these OMEGA Speedmaster watches once. Down at the jeweler’s. Moyer Fine Jewelers, I think it was called. They had a whole bunch of ’em. Seamasters and Speedmasters, they called ’em. Shiny things, they were. I guess these watches are all very famous. They are very popular. Everybody wants one.
My grandson, he says this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope, it’s like seven thousand dollars. Can you believe that? Seven thousand dollars for a watch! I told him he was crazy. But he says it’s worth it. He says it’s a good deal. Online, you can find it for less, he says. But you gotta be careful, like I said. Some online stores are not good. They will sell you fake watches. You will lose your money.
He showed me a place called Jomashop. Said they sell ’em there. I don’t know. Seems like a lot of money to spend on a watch. I don’t know who will buy this watch. But I guess if you got the money, and you want something fancy, this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope might be the thing for you. Just make sure you buy it from the right place, you hear? And if you see one, you tell ’em old grandma told you about it.
I still don’t understand what is a Chronoscope. But they say it can tell you the time, and the date. It is reliable. That’s good. That’s all I need in a watch. I don’t need it to go to the moon or nothin’. They say this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope, it’s a good watch. Maybe it is. Maybe it ain’t. All I know is, it’s a whole lot of money for something that tells the time. You need to think carefully before you buy it.
