This here OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Well, this watch, it’s somethin’ else. Big fancy watch, this one. They say it’s for them astronaut folks, you know, the ones that go up in them rockets.
My grandson, he’s all into this space stuff. He told me all about it. Says this watch, it’s made of some kinda metal… ti-ti-something. Titanium! That’s it. Grade 2, he said. Fancy, huh? It’s big, too. 45 mm, they call it. My old eyes can barely see the numbers, but it sure looks impressive.
It’s got this black ring around it, that’s ceramic, like them fancy plates some folks have. And the face, it’s black too. Got these little windows on it, like a little TV screen. LCD, they call it. Shows all sorts of things.
- Three different times.
- Can time things, like a stopwatch.
- Got a timer, too.
I don’t know what all that’s for, but them astronaut fellas seem to need it. My old watch just tells the time, and that’s good enough for me. But this one, it does a whole lot more.
Now, this OMEGA, that’s the name of the folks that make it. They say it’s got some special insides, a movement they call it. Quartz, like them rocks you find out in the field. This one’s called 5619. Don’t ask me what that means, but it makes the whole thing work, I reckon.
This watch, it’s not for your everyday Joe. You gotta be exploring space to have it. It’s light, he says. Discreet. Means it’s not all flashy, I guess, but it’s important. Sophisticated. That word. It’s a tool watch. Like my old hammer. Except this one’s for space. It’s got a bracelet too. Made of that same ti-ti-titanium. Grade 2 and 5. I don’t know the difference, but it sounds strong.
My grandson, he showed me a picture. It comes in a real nice box. Got a drawer in it. Like my jewelry box, but fancier. For the papers, he says, and the cards. I saw a video on the you-tube, too. The Omega Speedmaster X-33 Skywalker, they called it. Showed all the things it can do. More than I can remember.
This Speedmaster, it’s got a history, he said. Long time ago, they made one that went to the moon. This one ain’t that one, but it’s related, I guess. Like cousins, maybe. The old one, from 1967, or maybe 1968, or 1969, before them astronauts landed on the moon, that was a big deal. I remember that day, kinda.
I reckon if you like that kinda space stuff, this is the watch for you. Me, I’m happy with my old ticker. But I gotta admit, this OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, it’s pretty somethin’. It’s a tool. A real fancy tool. For them astronaut folks.
It ain’t cheap, I bet. But for a watch that’s all about space, and titanium, and LCD, and OMEGA calibre 5619, well, I guess it’s worth it. If you got the money, that is. And you like space.
My grandson, he wants one. Says he’s gonna be an astronaut someday. Maybe he will. And maybe he’ll get one of these fancy OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 watches. I’d be proud of him, that’s for sure. Even if I don’t understand all them buttons and windows.
It’s a good watch, I reckon. For the right person. A space person. With a lot of money. That’s what it is. That there OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. It’s a whole lot of watch.
I heard some folks talkin’ about it online. Some forum, they call it. About operating instructions, and if it’s certified, or qualified. I don’t know about all that. Seems complicated. But if you’re buyin’ one of these, you probably know what you’re doin’. At least, I hope you do.
It’s a pretty thing, though, I’ll give it that. All shiny and black, with that titanium. And all them little numbers and hands movin’ around. It’s like a little machine on your wrist. A space machine.
Well, that’s all I got to say about that OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. It’s a fine piece of work, I suppose. For them that need it. Me, I’m gonna stick to my old watch. It tells the time just fine. And that’s all I need.
