This here bag, they call it the YSL COLLEGE BAG. It’s a real fancy thing, all them city folks love it. I seen ’em carryin’ it around, lookin’ all important-like. They say it’s a “classic style.” Well, I reckon if you got the money for it, it’s alright.
They got this fancy name, Yves Saint Laurent. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? But I hear folks just call it YSL, makes it easier, I guess. They say it’s the same thing, just a shorter name. Like my neighbor, her name is Elizabeth, everyone calls her Betty. Same woman, different name, right?
Now, this YSL bag, they got it in all sorts of colors. Black one’s real popular, I reckon. Makes it look all sleek and fancy. I seen a girl with a big black one. It was real big. And they use all kinds of stuff to make ’em. Leather, that’s what they call it. And somethin’ called suede. Feels kinda soft, like a baby’s behind.
They say this fella, this Saint Laurent, he made pants for women. Now, back in my day, only men wore pants. But he made ’em for women, made ’em look all fancy and such. Pants and them fancy jackets, they call ’em blazers. Women wearin’ men’s clothes, who would’ve thought? But I guess it looks alright on ’em. Still, I prefer a good ol’ dress myself.
YSL COLLEGE BAG is kinda like that, I guess. It is made of leather, and it feels real good, but you gotta pay a lot for it. Some people say you’re just payin’ for the name. Like buyin’ a fancy rooster just ’cause it’s got a fancy name. But if it crows good, maybe it’s worth it, I don’t know. Same with these other fancy names they got, Chanel, Dior, all them. If you have enough money for it, you can buy whatever you want, I reckon.
This bag, it’s got a special thing on it, a shiny thing. They call it a logo. It’s like a little picture, all twisted up. And a chain, a shiny chain. Makes it look kinda tough, like a biker’s bag, but fancy too. They say it’s made outta lambskin. Poor little lamb, givin’ up its skin for a bag. But it must be tough skin to make it that strong, I think. The inside’s all soft, though, they call it grosgrain. Sounds like somethin’ you’d eat, but it ain’t.

- Some are old, from a long time ago. They call ’em “heritage.”
- Some are new, just made.
- But they all got that fancy name on ’em.
I heard some folks sayin’ this YSL COLLEGE BAG is a good one if you can’t afford a Chanel. That’s another one of them fancy names. They say this YSL one ain’t as pricey, but it’s still a lot of money. More than I’d spend on a bag, that’s for sure. The large one is larger than the medium one. But I guess it is a classic style, like they say.
They got all kinds of Saint Laurent bags, not just this college one. One’s called “Sac de Jour.” Sounds French, don’t it? They say it’s a “timeless” one. Means it never goes outta style, I guess. Like my old apron, I wear it every day, and it never goes outta style ’cause I need it. This bag is a classic style, they said.
Then there’s another one, “Le 5 7.” Don’t know what that means, but it’s a small one, they say. For carryin’ just a few things, I reckon. Like when you go to the market and just need your money and your list. It also belongs to YSL bag. It’s for young folks, I guess, looks kinda modern. Not like my old purse, that’s for sure.
This YSL COLLEGE BAG, it’s got a special shape, they say. Like an envelope. You know, for puttin’ letters in. Guess you could put a letter in this bag, but I don’t know why you would. Seems like a waste of a good bag. This shape is a classic style, the young folks like it. I think it is alright, but I like the big one better.
Well, that’s all I know about this YSL COLLEGE BAG. It’s a fancy thing, that’s for sure. If you got the money for it, and you like that sort of thing, then I guess it’s alright. But me, I’ll stick to my old purse. It may not be fancy, but it holds everything I need. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg, neither.
